April 2011
We picked up our vielle à roue (hurdy-gurdy) near Cave Junction, Oregon, and had a nice road trip down to George and Anwyn Leverett's house.  The learning curve wasn't quite as difficult as feared, and we are already trying to incorporate its use as a drone instrument in our sets.

May 2011
The Regency Society's Spring Ball was a great success.  Everyone looked beautiful, the food was wonderful, the music thoroughly appreciated. We look forward to upcoming events, especially the Zombie ball in October!  If you're captivated by BBC productions, period films and elegant dance sequences, the Oregon Regency Society provides events throughout the year where you can dress up and party like it's 1799.

The
Scottish Festival was a lot of fun, we learned about other Scottish festivals and events around the state.  Doug learned some interesting tidbits about Clan Gordon, and Amey learned that her family (Emigh) may really be Irish, with Scandinavian roots!  Finally a legitimate claim to play this music.  The weather held up, it was a perfect kilt-wearing day, and many tartans were represented.  The best way to sum up the Scottish spirit is with this slogan (printed on t-shirts): There are three kinds of people in the world; those who are Scottish, those who wish they were Scottish, and those with no ambition.  It was a great festival, and we look forward to it next year.

The day ended with our evening performance at the
Brewer's Union pub in Oakridge.  We had almost the full instrument kit (guitar, banjo, fiddle, hardanger, dulcimer, percussion), and we had a great time.  With full-size English pints and an atmosphere to match, you can really imagine yourself in a small pub in Europe.

Summer 2011
We take a short tour through Montana, performing in Missoula and twice in Miles City, then it's home for an orchestra concert. There's the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City in August, and several weddings throughout the summer.
